Worldchanging: A User’s Guide for the 21st Century. So, we here at MNP have only bought one copy, which we’ll have to share for now [hey, we’re broke over here: providing you with all this incredible free entertainment and news got us all fired from our part time jobs]. But all of you should go out and find yourself a copy [I’d suggest amazon…cheapest I’ve found]. Created by a group from Worldchanging.com, including fellow bloggers extraordinaire Sarah[worldchaning’s managing editor] and Jill from Inhabitat [one of our favorite blogs, other than our own, in case you didn’t notice], and with a foreward by Al Gore, AKA Captain Planet himself, the book is full of helpful info on how to help save the planet while living a normal life. Here’s one of the comments left on amazon, from one happy reader:
‘If Gore’s ‘An Inconvenient Truth‘ moved you, then Steffen’s “Worldchanging: A User’s Guide for the 21st Century†will move you to action. This is a beautifully crafted book that should be cherished – so full of resourceful ideas from around the world on how to live a more eco-friendly, sustainable life – without having to turn your back on the comforts of the 21st century. It’s the ultimate feel-good book that lets you know there’s hope for the planet if you’re willing to make changes here and there in your daily life that really aren’t all that inconvenient. Don’t worry – the book doesn’t lecture. It just INSPIRES.’
And here’s a sample of what you’re in for:
‘Buy Local: In the middle of Denver, in the middle of December, you can walk into most any supermarket and buy a ripe mango. This has been true long enough that almost nobody stops to think of the remarkable distance that mango traveled or of the tree it fell from, which is probably enjoying a balmy tropical day on the other side of the planet. Proponents of eating local food balk at the ubiquitous midwinter mango. Why? Because they think about the baggage that mango flew in with.’
Droppin’ gems on ‘em. Go buy the book.
